چکیده

Prior research into military–civilian transition has suggested that the Prison Service may be a popular destination for Armed Forces leavers, but experience of former military personnel within prison system as staff (rather than Veterans in Custody) so far been overlooked. As result, we know very little about their route work. This article reports on UK study investigating who have previously served and presents first set empirical evidence addressing these critical questions. Whilst our findings mirror prevailing assumptions relatively seamless to post-military careers (and, particular, those Protective Occupations), few had intended career work specifically. Such trajectories influence personal transitions, well job performance and, by extension, everyday lives prisoners other staff.
